This Little Piggy...

Today I took a very necessary step in maintaining our finances. The complicated bank situation, simply put, was that randomly and several times in the past two weeks, transfers were made from my savings to my checking. I was not manually doing this, and my checking was not overdrawn. The amounts were also random, one was $50, one was $32, etc. And because the bank could not give me a definite reason why this was happening or how to stop it, I took all of my money out of my savings and started a joint savings account with Kenneth at another bank. Neither of our checking accounts are linked to it, so the way we're looking at it- is a much safer version of stuffing our money in a box under our bed. We'll see how this works out of course.

The most exciting part of the morning was the realization that our piggy bank was full. When I was working at Target, I bought a ton of useless crap I didn't need (one of the reasons I had to stop working there, and one of the reasons I wasnt saving any money while I worked there) and one of the more useful of my purchases was an adorable black/chalkboard piggy bank. I doodled the New York City skyline on one side, the Statue of Liberty on the other, connected by the Brooklyn bridge. On the top I drew a zia sign, and a tiny little airplane flying from the zia to I <3 NY. It was inspirational. And opaque black, so the temptation wouldn't be there to use the change before the bank was full. And if I even thought about cracking into it, the little doodles of my hopes and dreams deterred me.  We dumped it out on our carpet and counted out approx. $150 worth of change! Which is incredible, considering it was stuffed inside our tiny little pig.

It's a small victory, but it made us really happy.

After work today I went over to Gilbert's house and we took about four hours to record two songs on my zoom. It was so funny, we didn't understand how singing in front of a tiny camera was more frightening than singing in front of a crowd of people. It was a lot of fun, and I'll be uploading these videos soon (not tonight, though, I'm super tired!)

I had big plans for fitness today, but we accidentally took too long at the bank, so I'll have to do my Wednesday workout tomorrow!

Thanks so much to those who have already contributed to our chip-in page! I know it's not showing on the widget quite yet, but it's just because I'm still in the process of verifying my bank account with my paypal account, so it will be a couple days before it shows up. I appreciate both of you so so much, and feel so much love already!

Goodnight :)
